Is listening Obama like listening to fingernails on a blackboard?

Because EVERY time I hear him I have this uncontrollable urge to change the channel...

Does he affect anyone else this way??Is listening Obama like listening to fingernails on a blackboard?
No, at least you get used to hearing the chalkboard!!!Is listening Obama like listening to fingernails on a blackboard?
You know, yes he does. I have tried to listen to him (just in case he is my only dem choice) but I cant stand him. I havent found any substance to his rants, he sounds like a pastor him self, full of philosphy and jargins. I cant really see him sitting acrossed from world leaders fighting for lower oil, cheaper grain, and world peace. He is just bla bla bla. I am a democrat by nature but I have to admit I will give MC Cain 4 years before I vote Obama.
I personally think his voice sounds calm and fluid.

Hillary's voice is just obnoxious. She makes good points, but even when she does, she sounds like she's yelling into the microphone and losing her voice. And her voice is kinda low for a woman, so it's even more piercing.
Not quite. But I have noticed now that when people make speeches (anywhere I go, not just politics) and quote famous historical people they eat it up. I am now immune to that thanks to Obama. So maybe there was one benefit to his campaign.....that's it though.
No; it's worse. Listening to Obama is like listening to the little geeky book-smart but unintelligent teacher's pet in school.
I find listening to him is almost exactly like listening to his racist preacher.. only Obama is a little less violent.. all from the same cloth.
Listening to Obama is like listening to Bush. I have to turn the sound down.
Well I'm not nuts about him but I will take him over the republicans any day! Obama 08 or Clinton 08!
Usually just the ignorant.
Nope.

Obama 2008
Yes, I know plenty who feel this way and hopefully we wont have to bear this annoyance for four years God willing! Bammie out in 08!!! Hooray!
No but that thing that's about to lose TO obama has that effect on me.
Yes. He creeps me out. Looking at him isn't easier either. Thank God for the remote.
Have you tried Cartoon Network?
no its only his sheep in here that make me feel that way

When I do my nails I use a bright color like hot pink, lime green, bright orange, bright purple with white polka dots. you pour some of the white nail polish on paper (paper doesn't absorb the nail polish) and use the end of the end of a tooth pick and dip it in the white nail polish and just put the polka dots on your nails. You can also make stripes like this put instead of putting dots just drag the tooth pick along.
Here's what I used to do when I was in school:

~ Paint every nail on one hand a different color

~ Paint every nail on both hands a different color

~ Paint every other nail a different color

~ Paint a rainbow across your nails

~ Have the nails on one hand a different color from the ones on the other hand

    ~ Stripes!

    ~ Polka dots!
maybe do a zebra print but instead of typical black and white do it with like neon yellow or blue or pink or anything and white! sebra is actually pretty easy, and fun! but you have to have the nailpolish that had the skinny tip instead of the normal fat one. sorry if you don't have it but i would recommend you get it because that you can do cool designs like the pros ;) good luck xoxox
I saw this style on this chick, thought it was cute and so i will pass it on to you.

    for natural nails:

paint the first 3 fingers on both of you hands a light matte color, and the last two a corresponding metallic color. [ie. a bronze, gold, pewter, silver...etc.]

It may sound a little off the wall when you read this, think about it...

it really is cute, and not ghetto, depending on the colors you choose..it can look different and artistic.

(the colors I saw were a light blue on the first 3, and metallic gold on the last two)

    good luck

    :0)
Get an orange, red, blue, yellow, and green regular nail polish.

Buy a drawing nail polish thingy and get black and white.(or u can use the not drawing thing but drawing thing is better)

Paint each nail one of the different colors (orange red blue yellow and green)Then use the black to make a face. Underneith that right a white m. thenn oyu hav m%26amp;m nails!!!
Claires has some of the coolest nail polish colours ( my favourite beeing the neon green), they also have this type of nail polish that has 3 colours in one, its really cool !

here is a link on the site:

For the 4th of july red, white, and blue stripes.

    Strawberry's and cherry's

    Different colors on each nail.

    Smiley faces :)

A letter on each nail spelling out your name

Be creative! Hope I helped! :)
have you tried using the colors together?

like pink base with green dots or something?

    wanna answer mine??? :)

Im a sucker for some bright red nail polish,

I think it looks really classy.

Or you can buy some of those new pens that just came out,

and draw things on your fingers!
Yellow is fun for summer, if you do designs on them it is always fun to put white designs on them using really thin tip nailpolish
Try like a dark purple. It's fun different and looks great on short nails (not people who bite their nails though). So if you've cut them and they're not that long, dark purple or some funky shimmer dark blue is awesome.
    What you need:

    Q-tip and nail polish

Paint your nails a dark color and let dry.

Grap a brighter color and spot your nails with the Q-tip
lime green and yellow every other finger or something like that

Is it acceptable to cut fingernails in public?

I ride a train to work every morning and see the same people. The same woman cuts her nails on the train often. She lets the clippings just fall on the floor. It doesn't seem to bother anyone else. Is it just me or is this gross? Is it acceptable to cut fingernails in public?
That's disgusting.. . I would take away her scissors.. I would tell her I find that not very nice to have to watch.. she must have 5 minutes of time at the weekend to do this at home... only a manicurist should do that.. or I can understand if someone ''snags'' one fingernail and they get out a nailfile to file it straight... but not to cut them and throw the clippings on the floor.. I would not sit where she is sitting.. that is not what I would want to see first thing in the morning... I would find another place on this darn train.. it must be longer than this.. just becaus you see her every morning I would not sit near her every morning.. or I would be the kind of person who would steal her nail clippers or her scissors and run...Is it acceptable to cut fingernails in public?
The only time I would think it acceptable to clip a (one) nail in public is if a nail broke and it was so uncomfortable or dangerous that clipping it off is the only remedy to keep from injuring oneself or someone else.

I worked with a man for many years and at least once a week he took his shoes off and clipped his toenails in his office. The sound echoed throughout the entire office suite. It was beyond gross and disturbing, so I certainly sympathize with your predicament.
I know a couple people who are bothered by it, but people clip their nails anywhere and everywhere, and most of the time no one cares or notices...I think it's natural and common to be grossed out, but I've seen people cut their nails in public, and no one seems to notice or find it really disturbing..
~~It is rude to take care of personal hygiene in public. I watched a guy clean his fingernails while I was in a waiting room at my doctor's office. It was disgusting. To top it off, his wife was crunching so loudly on a cup of ice, it graded on my nerves.

Nope, I prefer people chewing with their mouth closed and taking care of grooming in their own home. It's disgusting to see stuff falling off people-YUK!
It is a practice of personal grooming that should be done in the privacy of the bathroom, like all personal grooming is done.

It's not just you, it is gross to clip fingernails in public .... most people have become desensitized to private matters being displayed in public.
No its not acceptable this is considered a part of personal grooming, not a public display. She is very rude.
Its gross and unacceptable. Its not just you.
I think it's gross! even at home me or my kids cut fingernails over the garbage or toilet. I don't think I would set next to her either.
i wouldn't really call it gross but what people do in the bathroom should never be done in public. most people don't shave their legs in public, etc.
it doesnt show many manners or respect for others. it should be done at home when you are alone.
    Yes, that's quite gross.

    No, it's not just you.
    That is gross.
NOT acceptable. I've seen it a lot too, but this is so gross!

My fingernail seems to be falling off.?

i hit something really hard then when i look at my hand the bottom of the nail where the cuticle came out but the top is still attached. when will it fall off. i know not to yank it because i know for sure that would hurt.. but should i leave it. its not hurting much cuz im not a wuss but should i see a doctor for this. and how long will it take to grow back?My fingernail seems to be falling off.?
It sounds like to me it's going to fall off. It's really not a big deal though, its a common thing. There's really no point in going to a doctor because they will not be able to do much except give you something to prevent infection (which isn't likely to happen anyway). It just takes time. You're nail will grow back to normal though.

I played basketball last year with too small of shoes on and it caused blisters under my big toe nails, which resulted in them falling off. They've grown back normal since then.. It'll probably take a good 4-7 months for it to grow back once it falls off and it'll probably look pretty ugly, but there's nothing really to worry about.

It means they have dirt under their fingernails, and it seems to be staining their nails. What is that person doing with their hands anyway? And where are those hands intending to be? I would be buying nail scrub brushes and doing a free manicure if those hands were heading toward me!!!

My fingernail is chipping and flaking away where it grows at??!?!?!

the place where your nail grows, i guess its called the nail bed, is flaking and chipping away?

whats wrong? My fingernail is chipping and flaking away where it grows at??!?!?!
it is oveously just weak. im not totally sure what would be wrong with it but go to the chemist or health food store and get sisicea. it is so so good for your nails, hiar and skin and you can get it in a tab form or liquid. i use it and its amazing. i got my husband ontoit also as he gets dandrif and it contributes to hair loss and it is helping that as well as his nail growth.

Does anybody know why the skin is peeling back by my fingernails?

Ok, well basically the skin by my fingernails is dry and peeling back, leaving it sore and red. It's been like this for a while now but just recently it's got worse %26amp; really annoying me. The question is, does anybody know what it is, and how I can get rid of it?!Does anybody know why the skin is peeling back by my fingernails?
It could be from bacteria that gets in from your nail and under your skin. I had this for years, and it only went away when I would stop biting my nails and leave them to grow, and just trim or file them. It should also help to put a little tea tree oil on the areas and put band aids on them. You could just do this at bed time, and no biting!Does anybody know why the skin is peeling back by my fingernails?
When I was a little gal, I had this problem too...but eating a balanced diet (lots of fresh fruits and veggies) helped me have healthy skin and nails. You gotta drink water, eat lots of proteins, take multivitamin capsules. Treat your hands gently, wear rubber gloves while cleaning dishes or surfaces, avoid acetone/nail polish/harsh manicures for a while, wash them with lukewarm salt water and immediately wipe and moisturize with medicated (cortisones-for reducing pain and inflammation) hand lotions (go for non-alcohol/unscented ones). Deficiency of vitamins is generally the biggest cause. Hope you get better.
welllcan be fungus...can be detergent....best to see dermo doc and see...........
drink more water and try to keep your skin moisturized. Also certain activites like digging in the dirt could simply cause local trauma that will simply need to heal...but misturizers will help that to.

I have this really freaky pimple that is like the size of a fingernail....?

Its on my nose... can some1 help me with this?I have this really freaky pimple that is like the size of a fingernail....?
honestly..this has always worked for me..do try it:-

Use a hot compress on it (a washcloth, sponge, or anything that will allow you to apply moist heat to the area), and then use cool water to close the pores. Do the process over and over again, about five or six times. Use soap to wash the area, rinse it with warm water, blot off the excess water with a clean towel, and then treat it with an alcohol soaked cotton ball. It should be gone within five to six hours.I have this really freaky pimple that is like the size of a fingernail....?
Pop it, put peroxide on it to kill the bacteria and dry it up.
DON'T POP IT! That's the worst thing you could do wait at least 2 weeks b4 trying trying to! Just put toothpaste on it evertday till bedtime then wash it off and use alchol, witch hazel,or seabreeze products....Then use a acne lotion on it...After 2 weeks of this try to pop it it should come right out...I've had one of those on my forehead and it kept coming back then i did this and it never came back again!!!!
This sounds like an acne cyst (nodule). It is where the hair follicle has become infected due to the skin cells / sebum blocking the opening onto the surface of the skin and those dead cells along with white blood cells (to fight the infection) building up. You could have the cyst ';lanced'; if you go to a doctor's office and also possibly injected with steroids to reduce the inflammation. That will help it resolve more quickly. However, do NOT attempt this on your own. You may be left with a visible scar if it's not done correctly by someone trained. Topical antibiotics (prescribed by the doctor) can also help to treat the cyst.
DO NOT POP It!! If you decide to pop it could scar!! It could be infected!! Instead put warm compresses on it!! It will form a blister like if that does not happen after 30-45 minutes then apply ice which will reduce the swelling!!If it is that big it could be what they call a cheese cyst which is a pus filled cyst not a pimple!! Cysts will leave scars is broken !!
I would wanna pop that so bad, that sounds awesome
I had something similar to the right of my nose. It was huge, Im telling you.

Anyway, the way I got rid of mine was a long process. I kept popping it for about a month and a half, and it kept scarring and growing back. I used some ProActive Solution (You know, the one with Jessica Simpson). That helped clear up the rest of my face, but not that one zit. I then tried some Black Head remover, but still no luck. I then started using a product called ';Oxy-Pads';. These pads are medicated, and you rub them on your face twice a day. I used the Maximum Strength pads, and in a week all you could see was a tiny scar. Now, 3 months later, the scar has finally disappeared.

i live in a town with a company that makes zinc, all kinds of it, mostly pharmaceutical. anyways it used to spew dust into the town and years ago they did tests on residents (and we had white sort of stripes on our fingernails( like a trees rings ). they found it to be cadmium and zinc...like the kind they make batteries from.

whatever you have, might have coated your bones..like cadmium %26amp;zinc does and as fingernails grow they reveal this. try not taking supplements,or look for environmental contaminants, it might take a while to grow out a full length fingernail though, hope ya find your answer ;)

Paint your nail white with nail polish, it may take a few coats so let the dry really good in between then use a thin tip black permanent marker let dry, then put a coat of clear nail polish over nails

you can do this with other thin tip marker colors too.

but you have to put that clear coat of nail polish on.
use tape. tape down lines on your finger nails and then paint across ...then wait for it to try and tape again. At least that's what I do for french manicure so I';m sure it would work for stripes.
get a very fine point paint brush and just paint them. It doens't have to be perfect. It may even be cuter if it's a little imperfect.

This morning I was cleaning the bathroom in the dorm and I got some stuff under my fingernails?

I won't go into detail what it was, but you can imagine it, since then I have been washing my hands religiously, and also about 3 times after I noticed it, and I use germ-x religiously anyways. Do you think all the bacteria is gone? Or am I going to get sick from it, even if the person was not sick? This morning I was cleaning the bathroom in the dorm and I got some stuff under my fingernails?
go get a pedi cure, theyl clean u all upThis morning I was cleaning the bathroom in the dorm and I got some stuff under my fingernails?
Why don't you take it a litlle less seriously?:)

Sh%26amp;t is just sh%26amp;t, after all, it doesn't bite! It's not very comfortable, but you can get a lot of more dangerous things happening around you every day!

Clean your nails, wear gloves the next time and forget about it!
    Yuk, use gloves next time.
Why the heck were you cleaning the dorm bathroom without gloves on

    How old are you.??...

Didn`t anyone ever tell you to wear gloves all the time,( for your sanitation as well as your health..)

..If you cleaned yourself that much, I`d say the bacteria must be gone by now...

.In the future, buy those disposable gloves and wear them whenever you have to do a job like that PLEASE, FOR YOUR OWN GOOD%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;THANKS.....
Hopefully all will be ok. If you didn't have any cuts or scratches maybe you degermed yourself enough. Any time you clean use gloves so you don't have to worry. The old saying an ounce of pervention is worth a pound of cure still rings true....and besides who likes to worry?
I don't know for sure what it was but, if you are that concerned I am pretty certain that all that washing has done the trick.

If you are still concerned, pour Isopropyl Alcohol over your hands and nails.

Or mix some bleach in a sink full of water and dip yours hands in it a couple of times. (Of course, wash your hands after this with some scented soap to help get rid of the smell. It will still linger for a little while but, better safe than sorry.)
    yes, it's gone.

Try taking a bar of soap and raking your nails into it, leaving deep marks. Then wash your hands again, using a file or similar to help get the soap out.

God made us washable. It's fine. But I gross out over toilets too.
cut your fingernails and wash your hands thoroughly... lolx m bein a nuthead just wanna ask,is that a poop??? errrr...dunt wanna sound like an idiot .. just askin... try using a brush and brush yer nails might get it off =)
I think you are overreacting. Just as long as you didn't decide to chew your fingernails immediately afterwards you should be fine.
If you didn't have any cracks in your skin you should be fine. I would encourage you to buy some gloves from the store for such reasons. You can't get rid of all bacteria you have some on you all the time that is just part of life. I would try to relax you will probably get sick from stress before anything else. If any signs/symptoms do show up call your doctor.
    I'd use a brush, and keep washing! ';religiously';

You are already out of danger but I'd probably still be grossed out.

I'm a bit of a germophobe, so I'd probably use alcohol and peroxide as well, just to calm my fear... But you really are not in danger at all!!

...unless you had an open wound, or you still see particles under the nail, Yuck!!

Try to wear gloves in the future to prevent this kind of ';accident'; from repeating itself!
as long as u don't have any open sores u may be okay
oooo yuck! im sure you'll be safe if you used anti bacterial soap
get a fingernail brush...then use your germ-x to wash with and scrub under your nails with the brush...you can get one in any of the cosmetics sections of department stores...once you get one, you will find yourself using it all the time, but you should always wear gloves when cleaning the bathroom no matter where you are...
wash your hands thoroughlly with soap and water using a nail brush. buy gloves for the future.
    yesitis

Why do people think fingernails are gross?

I mean I can understand if they're really dirty then that's just disgusting.

But if they're clean and everything why do people think it's gross? Why do people think fingernails are gross?
long ones are awful. One time a nurse with very very long red fingernails and sparkles on them, gave my 18-month-old kid 4 shots in the legs as she screamed and later got autism. And when I think back, all I can see are those absurd fingernails and her having to adjust her fingers to try and push the injection in. Horrible, horrible. Fingernails are fine when they are short, clean and sometimes cute with polish on. But long ones are disgusting, especially on men.Why do people think fingernails are gross?
I guess the certain shape of it disgusts people. If you do not have a fingernail on your finger, the nail is terribly damaged, or it is discolored, etc., then yeah, it would be gross.
Um if a guy has long nails its freaking GROSS.

literally the biggest turn off ever.

When I meet a guy first thing I look at are his hands.

They need to be clean and taken care of.

What can i do to keep the area under my fingernails really clean?

i don't like using a nail brush/scrub thingy because it tickles my fingertips! What can i do to keep the area under my fingernails really clean?
Scrape your fingernails over a bar of soap if you are doing yardwork. The soap will fill in the gaps underneath. When you are done, wash out the soapWhat can i do to keep the area under my fingernails really clean?
cut your finger nails low, or just clean them weekly or as often as necessary (with a nail file or something that goes in your nails)

    GOOD LUCK
Try using that little pick thing that is attatched to most finger nail clippers. Also, you could treat yourself to a manicure at a salon...
Personally, I use my pocketknife to scrape my nails out. But, if your fingertips are very ticklish, that may not work. What about one of those cuticle stick thangs? Maybe that would work?
Use a soft toothbrush to clean under your nails when you wash your hands. Get orange wood sticks and use them to clean under the nails regularly. Buy a white nail pencil and use it to color the underside of your nails.

It is a definite ridge you can see and feel half way on all my fingernails. I have had some major health problems and plan to ask my doctor when I see him...........but I was just wondering. Can someone tell me what has caused ridged half moons about half way on all my fingernails?
Both previous answers are great, not going for a BA here. I found similar info when my nails were getting the same type of ';speed bumps';.

Mine have appeared over the years after times of trauma, whether physical or emotional. I was told, and also read up, that most of the abnormalities we find in our nails are just evidence. Evidence of the past, they need to grow out, to go away. (there's no quick fix for them.) The marks or ridges indicate many things. White lines, blotches...

Have to confess I hadn't read both answers in their entirety, but trust it's all there.

I'd also heard the vertical ones , which are more permanent, indicate different, and more lasting damage/trauma.

I think there's info at a website called Dr. Mercola, as well as WebMD.Can someone tell me what has caused ridged half moons about half way on all my fingernails?

Your nail beds are affected by your health and having surgery will affect them. Since you had major surgery 3 monthes ago, the area of your nail beds would be just about halfway grown out now so that's probably what it was from.
