Is it acceptable to cut fingernails in public?
I ride a train to work every morning and see the same people. The same woman cuts her nails on the train often. She lets the clippings just fall on the floor. It doesn't seem to bother anyone else. Is it just me or is this gross? Is it acceptable to cut fingernails in public?
That's disgusting.. . I would take away her scissors.. I would tell her I find that not very nice to have to watch.. she must have 5 minutes of time at the weekend to do this at home... only a manicurist should do that.. or I can understand if someone ''snags'' one fingernail and they get out a nailfile to file it straight... but not to cut them and throw the clippings on the floor.. I would not sit where she is sitting.. that is not what I would want to see first thing in the morning... I would find another place on this darn train.. it must be longer than this.. just becaus you see her every morning I would not sit near her every morning.. or I would be the kind of person who would steal her nail clippers or her scissors and run...Is it acceptable to cut fingernails in public?
The only time I would think it acceptable to clip a (one) nail in public is if a nail broke and it was so uncomfortable or dangerous that clipping it off is the only remedy to keep from injuring oneself or someone else.
I worked with a man for many years and at least once a week he took his shoes off and clipped his toenails in his office. The sound echoed throughout the entire office suite. It was beyond gross and disturbing, so I certainly sympathize with your predicament.
I know a couple people who are bothered by it, but people clip their nails anywhere and everywhere, and most of the time no one cares or notices...I think it's natural and common to be grossed out, but I've seen people cut their nails in public, and no one seems to notice or find it really disturbing..
~~It is rude to take care of personal hygiene in public. I watched a guy clean his fingernails while I was in a waiting room at my doctor's office. It was disgusting. To top it off, his wife was crunching so loudly on a cup of ice, it graded on my nerves.
Nope, I prefer people chewing with their mouth closed and taking care of grooming in their own home. It's disgusting to see stuff falling off people-YUK!
It is a practice of personal grooming that should be done in the privacy of the bathroom, like all personal grooming is done.
It's not just you, it is gross to clip fingernails in public .... most people have become desensitized to private matters being displayed in public.
No its not acceptable this is considered a part of personal grooming, not a public display. She is very rude.
Its gross and unacceptable. Its not just you.
I think it's gross! even at home me or my kids cut fingernails over the garbage or toilet. I don't think I would set next to her either.
i wouldn't really call it gross but what people do in the bathroom should never be done in public. most people don't shave their legs in public, etc.
it doesnt show many manners or respect for others. it should be done at home when you are alone.
Yes, that's quite gross.
No, it's not just you.

NOT acceptable. I've seen it a lot too, but this is so gross!

My fingernail seems to be falling off.?
i hit something really hard then when i look at my hand the bottom of the nail where the cuticle came out but the top is still attached. when will it fall off. i know not to yank it because i know for sure that would hurt.. but should i leave it. its not hurting much cuz im not a wuss but should i see a doctor for this. and how long will it take to grow back?My fingernail seems to be falling off.?
It sounds like to me it's going to fall off. It's really not a big deal though, its a common thing. There's really no point in going to a doctor because they will not be able to do much except give you something to prevent infection (which isn't likely to happen anyway). It just takes time. You're nail will grow back to normal though.
I played basketball last year with too small of shoes on and it caused blisters under my big toe nails, which resulted in them falling off. They've grown back normal since then.. It'll probably take a good 4-7 months for it to grow back once it falls off and it'll probably look pretty ugly, but there's nothing really to worry about.whitening cream

When someone usually says that you have permanent dirt in your fingernails, what does that mean?
Does that means the person will always have dirty fingernails or its very hard for them to clean because their fingernails, the dirt always comes back. When someone usually says that you have permanent dirt in your fingernails, what does that mean?
Every day dirt is accumilated under nails but if you wash daily it goes away. Only if you are a mechanic will you have permanent dirty nails. When someone usually says that you have permanent dirt in your fingernails, what does that mean?
It means they have dirt under their fingernails, and it seems to be staining their nails. What is that person doing with their hands anyway? And where are those hands intending to be? I would be buying nail scrub brushes and doing a free manicure if those hands were heading toward me!!!
It means that you have permanent dirt in your fingernails. WHAT else could it mean. DUUUUUHHHHH!
interesting question....but i dont know??

My fingernail is chipping and flaking away where it grows at??!?!?!
the place where your nail grows, i guess its called the nail bed, is flaking and chipping away?
whats wrong? My fingernail is chipping and flaking away where it grows at??!?!?!
it is oveously just weak. im not totally sure what would be wrong with it but go to the chemist or health food store and get sisicea. it is so so good for your nails, hiar and skin and you can get it in a tab form or liquid. i use it and its amazing. i got my husband ontoit also as he gets dandrif and it contributes to hair loss and it is helping that as well as his nail growth.

Does anybody know why the skin is peeling back by my fingernails?
Ok, well basically the skin by my fingernails is dry and peeling back, leaving it sore and red. It's been like this for a while now but just recently it's got worse %26amp; really annoying me. The question is, does anybody know what it is, and how I can get rid of it?!Does anybody know why the skin is peeling back by my fingernails?
It could be from bacteria that gets in from your nail and under your skin. I had this for years, and it only went away when I would stop biting my nails and leave them to grow, and just trim or file them. It should also help to put a little tea tree oil on the areas and put band aids on them. You could just do this at bed time, and no biting!Does anybody know why the skin is peeling back by my fingernails?
When I was a little gal, I had this problem too...but eating a balanced diet (lots of fresh fruits and veggies) helped me have healthy skin and nails. You gotta drink water, eat lots of proteins, take multivitamin capsules. Treat your hands gently, wear rubber gloves while cleaning dishes or surfaces, avoid acetone/nail polish/harsh manicures for a while, wash them with lukewarm salt water and immediately wipe and moisturize with medicated (cortisones-for reducing pain and inflammation) hand lotions (go for non-alcohol/unscented ones). Deficiency of vitamins is generally the biggest cause. Hope you get better.
welllcan be fungus...can be detergent....best to see dermo doc and see...........
drink more water and try to keep your skin moisturized. Also certain activites like digging in the dirt could simply cause local trauma that will simply need to heal...but misturizers will help that to.

I have this really freaky pimple that is like the size of a fingernail....?
Its on my nose... can some1 help me with this?I have this really freaky pimple that is like the size of a fingernail....?
honestly..this has always worked for me..do try it:-
Use a hot compress on it (a washcloth, sponge, or anything that will allow you to apply moist heat to the area), and then use cool water to close the pores. Do the process over and over again, about five or six times. Use soap to wash the area, rinse it with warm water, blot off the excess water with a clean towel, and then treat it with an alcohol soaked cotton ball. It should be gone within five to six hours.I have this really freaky pimple that is like the size of a fingernail....?
Pop it, put peroxide on it to kill the bacteria and dry it up.
DON'T POP IT! That's the worst thing you could do wait at least 2 weeks b4 trying trying to! Just put toothpaste on it evertday till bedtime then wash it off and use alchol, witch hazel,or seabreeze products....Then use a acne lotion on it...After 2 weeks of this try to pop it it should come right out...I've had one of those on my forehead and it kept coming back then i did this and it never came back again!!!!
This sounds like an acne cyst (nodule). It is where the hair follicle has become infected due to the skin cells / sebum blocking the opening onto the surface of the skin and those dead cells along with white blood cells (to fight the infection) building up. You could have the cyst ';lanced'; if you go to a doctor's office and also possibly injected with steroids to reduce the inflammation. That will help it resolve more quickly. However, do NOT attempt this on your own. You may be left with a visible scar if it's not done correctly by someone trained. Topical antibiotics (prescribed by the doctor) can also help to treat the cyst.
DO NOT POP It!! If you decide to pop it could scar!! It could be infected!! Instead put warm compresses on it!! It will form a blister like if that does not happen after 30-45 minutes then apply ice which will reduce the swelling!!If it is that big it could be what they call a cheese cyst which is a pus filled cyst not a pimple!! Cysts will leave scars is broken !!
I would wanna pop that so bad, that sounds awesome
I had something similar to the right of my nose. It was huge, Im telling you.
Anyway, the way I got rid of mine was a long process. I kept popping it for about a month and a half, and it kept scarring and growing back. I used some ProActive Solution (You know, the one with Jessica Simpson). That helped clear up the rest of my face, but not that one zit. I then tried some Black Head remover, but still no luck. I then started using a product called ';Oxy-Pads';. These pads are medicated, and you rub them on your face twice a day. I used the Maximum Strength pads, and in a week all you could see was a tiny scar. Now, 3 months later, the scar has finally disappeared.
