Is listening Obama like listening to fingernails on a blackboard?

Because EVERY time I hear him I have this uncontrollable urge to change the channel...

Does he affect anyone else this way??Is listening Obama like listening to fingernails on a blackboard?
No, at least you get used to hearing the chalkboard!!!Is listening Obama like listening to fingernails on a blackboard?
You know, yes he does. I have tried to listen to him (just in case he is my only dem choice) but I cant stand him. I havent found any substance to his rants, he sounds like a pastor him self, full of philosphy and jargins. I cant really see him sitting acrossed from world leaders fighting for lower oil, cheaper grain, and world peace. He is just bla bla bla. I am a democrat by nature but I have to admit I will give MC Cain 4 years before I vote Obama.
I personally think his voice sounds calm and fluid.

Hillary's voice is just obnoxious. She makes good points, but even when she does, she sounds like she's yelling into the microphone and losing her voice. And her voice is kinda low for a woman, so it's even more piercing.
Not quite. But I have noticed now that when people make speeches (anywhere I go, not just politics) and quote famous historical people they eat it up. I am now immune to that thanks to Obama. So maybe there was one benefit to his campaign.....that's it though.
No; it's worse. Listening to Obama is like listening to the little geeky book-smart but unintelligent teacher's pet in school.
I find listening to him is almost exactly like listening to his racist preacher.. only Obama is a little less violent.. all from the same cloth.
Listening to Obama is like listening to Bush. I have to turn the sound down.
Well I'm not nuts about him but I will take him over the republicans any day! Obama 08 or Clinton 08!
Usually just the ignorant.
Nope.

Obama 2008
Yes, I know plenty who feel this way and hopefully we wont have to bear this annoyance for four years God willing! Bammie out in 08!!! Hooray!
No but that thing that's about to lose TO obama has that effect on me.
Yes. He creeps me out. Looking at him isn't easier either. Thank God for the remote.
Have you tried Cartoon Network?
no its only his sheep in here that make me feel that way

When I do my nails I use a bright color like hot pink, lime green, bright orange, bright purple with white polka dots. you pour some of the white nail polish on paper (paper doesn't absorb the nail polish) and use the end of the end of a tooth pick and dip it in the white nail polish and just put the polka dots on your nails. You can also make stripes like this put instead of putting dots just drag the tooth pick along.
Here's what I used to do when I was in school:

~ Paint every nail on one hand a different color

~ Paint every nail on both hands a different color

~ Paint every other nail a different color

~ Paint a rainbow across your nails

~ Have the nails on one hand a different color from the ones on the other hand

    ~ Stripes!

    ~ Polka dots!
maybe do a zebra print but instead of typical black and white do it with like neon yellow or blue or pink or anything and white! sebra is actually pretty easy, and fun! but you have to have the nailpolish that had the skinny tip instead of the normal fat one. sorry if you don't have it but i would recommend you get it because that you can do cool designs like the pros ;) good luck xoxox
I saw this style on this chick, thought it was cute and so i will pass it on to you.

    for natural nails:

paint the first 3 fingers on both of you hands a light matte color, and the last two a corresponding metallic color. [ie. a bronze, gold, pewter, silver...etc.]

It may sound a little off the wall when you read this, think about it...

it really is cute, and not ghetto, depending on the colors you choose..it can look different and artistic.

(the colors I saw were a light blue on the first 3, and metallic gold on the last two)

    good luck

    :0)
Get an orange, red, blue, yellow, and green regular nail polish.

Buy a drawing nail polish thingy and get black and white.(or u can use the not drawing thing but drawing thing is better)

Paint each nail one of the different colors (orange red blue yellow and green)Then use the black to make a face. Underneith that right a white m. thenn oyu hav m%26amp;m nails!!!
Claires has some of the coolest nail polish colours ( my favourite beeing the neon green), they also have this type of nail polish that has 3 colours in one, its really cool !

here is a link on the site:

For the 4th of july red, white, and blue stripes.

    Strawberry's and cherry's

    Different colors on each nail.

    Smiley faces :)

A letter on each nail spelling out your name

Be creative! Hope I helped! :)
have you tried using the colors together?

like pink base with green dots or something?

    wanna answer mine??? :)

Im a sucker for some bright red nail polish,

I think it looks really classy.

Or you can buy some of those new pens that just came out,

and draw things on your fingers!
Yellow is fun for summer, if you do designs on them it is always fun to put white designs on them using really thin tip nailpolish
Try like a dark purple. It's fun different and looks great on short nails (not people who bite their nails though). So if you've cut them and they're not that long, dark purple or some funky shimmer dark blue is awesome.
    What you need:

    Q-tip and nail polish

Paint your nails a dark color and let dry.

Grap a brighter color and spot your nails with the Q-tip
lime green and yellow every other finger or something like that

Is it acceptable to cut fingernails in public?

I ride a train to work every morning and see the same people. The same woman cuts her nails on the train often. She lets the clippings just fall on the floor. It doesn't seem to bother anyone else. Is it just me or is this gross? Is it acceptable to cut fingernails in public?
That's disgusting.. . I would take away her scissors.. I would tell her I find that not very nice to have to watch.. she must have 5 minutes of time at the weekend to do this at home... only a manicurist should do that.. or I can understand if someone ''snags'' one fingernail and they get out a nailfile to file it straight... but not to cut them and throw the clippings on the floor.. I would not sit where she is sitting.. that is not what I would want to see first thing in the morning... I would find another place on this darn train.. it must be longer than this.. just becaus you see her every morning I would not sit near her every morning.. or I would be the kind of person who would steal her nail clippers or her scissors and run...Is it acceptable to cut fingernails in public?
The only time I would think it acceptable to clip a (one) nail in public is if a nail broke and it was so uncomfortable or dangerous that clipping it off is the only remedy to keep from injuring oneself or someone else.

I worked with a man for many years and at least once a week he took his shoes off and clipped his toenails in his office. The sound echoed throughout the entire office suite. It was beyond gross and disturbing, so I certainly sympathize with your predicament.
I know a couple people who are bothered by it, but people clip their nails anywhere and everywhere, and most of the time no one cares or notices...I think it's natural and common to be grossed out, but I've seen people cut their nails in public, and no one seems to notice or find it really disturbing..
~~It is rude to take care of personal hygiene in public. I watched a guy clean his fingernails while I was in a waiting room at my doctor's office. It was disgusting. To top it off, his wife was crunching so loudly on a cup of ice, it graded on my nerves.

Nope, I prefer people chewing with their mouth closed and taking care of grooming in their own home. It's disgusting to see stuff falling off people-YUK!
It is a practice of personal grooming that should be done in the privacy of the bathroom, like all personal grooming is done.

It's not just you, it is gross to clip fingernails in public .... most people have become desensitized to private matters being displayed in public.
No its not acceptable this is considered a part of personal grooming, not a public display. She is very rude.
Its gross and unacceptable. Its not just you.
I think it's gross! even at home me or my kids cut fingernails over the garbage or toilet. I don't think I would set next to her either.
i wouldn't really call it gross but what people do in the bathroom should never be done in public. most people don't shave their legs in public, etc.
it doesnt show many manners or respect for others. it should be done at home when you are alone.
    Yes, that's quite gross.

    No, it's not just you.
    That is gross.
NOT acceptable. I've seen it a lot too, but this is so gross!

My fingernail seems to be falling off.?

i hit something really hard then when i look at my hand the bottom of the nail where the cuticle came out but the top is still attached. when will it fall off. i know not to yank it because i know for sure that would hurt.. but should i leave it. its not hurting much cuz im not a wuss but should i see a doctor for this. and how long will it take to grow back?My fingernail seems to be falling off.?
It sounds like to me it's going to fall off. It's really not a big deal though, its a common thing. There's really no point in going to a doctor because they will not be able to do much except give you something to prevent infection (which isn't likely to happen anyway). It just takes time. You're nail will grow back to normal though.

I played basketball last year with too small of shoes on and it caused blisters under my big toe nails, which resulted in them falling off. They've grown back normal since then.. It'll probably take a good 4-7 months for it to grow back once it falls off and it'll probably look pretty ugly, but there's nothing really to worry about.

It means they have dirt under their fingernails, and it seems to be staining their nails. What is that person doing with their hands anyway? And where are those hands intending to be? I would be buying nail scrub brushes and doing a free manicure if those hands were heading toward me!!!

My fingernail is chipping and flaking away where it grows at??!?!?!

the place where your nail grows, i guess its called the nail bed, is flaking and chipping away?

whats wrong? My fingernail is chipping and flaking away where it grows at??!?!?!
it is oveously just weak. im not totally sure what would be wrong with it but go to the chemist or health food store and get sisicea. it is so so good for your nails, hiar and skin and you can get it in a tab form or liquid. i use it and its amazing. i got my husband ontoit also as he gets dandrif and it contributes to hair loss and it is helping that as well as his nail growth.

Does anybody know why the skin is peeling back by my fingernails?

Ok, well basically the skin by my fingernails is dry and peeling back, leaving it sore and red. It's been like this for a while now but just recently it's got worse %26amp; really annoying me. The question is, does anybody know what it is, and how I can get rid of it?!Does anybody know why the skin is peeling back by my fingernails?
It could be from bacteria that gets in from your nail and under your skin. I had this for years, and it only went away when I would stop biting my nails and leave them to grow, and just trim or file them. It should also help to put a little tea tree oil on the areas and put band aids on them. You could just do this at bed time, and no biting!Does anybody know why the skin is peeling back by my fingernails?
When I was a little gal, I had this problem too...but eating a balanced diet (lots of fresh fruits and veggies) helped me have healthy skin and nails. You gotta drink water, eat lots of proteins, take multivitamin capsules. Treat your hands gently, wear rubber gloves while cleaning dishes or surfaces, avoid acetone/nail polish/harsh manicures for a while, wash them with lukewarm salt water and immediately wipe and moisturize with medicated (cortisones-for reducing pain and inflammation) hand lotions (go for non-alcohol/unscented ones). Deficiency of vitamins is generally the biggest cause. Hope you get better.
welllcan be fungus...can be detergent....best to see dermo doc and see...........
drink more water and try to keep your skin moisturized. Also certain activites like digging in the dirt could simply cause local trauma that will simply need to heal...but misturizers will help that to.

I have this really freaky pimple that is like the size of a fingernail....?

Its on my nose... can some1 help me with this?I have this really freaky pimple that is like the size of a fingernail....?
honestly..this has always worked for me..do try it:-

Use a hot compress on it (a washcloth, sponge, or anything that will allow you to apply moist heat to the area), and then use cool water to close the pores. Do the process over and over again, about five or six times. Use soap to wash the area, rinse it with warm water, blot off the excess water with a clean towel, and then treat it with an alcohol soaked cotton ball. It should be gone within five to six hours.I have this really freaky pimple that is like the size of a fingernail....?
Pop it, put peroxide on it to kill the bacteria and dry it up.
DON'T POP IT! That's the worst thing you could do wait at least 2 weeks b4 trying trying to! Just put toothpaste on it evertday till bedtime then wash it off and use alchol, witch hazel,or seabreeze products....Then use a acne lotion on it...After 2 weeks of this try to pop it it should come right out...I've had one of those on my forehead and it kept coming back then i did this and it never came back again!!!!
This sounds like an acne cyst (nodule). It is where the hair follicle has become infected due to the skin cells / sebum blocking the opening onto the surface of the skin and those dead cells along with white blood cells (to fight the infection) building up. You could have the cyst ';lanced'; if you go to a doctor's office and also possibly injected with steroids to reduce the inflammation. That will help it resolve more quickly. However, do NOT attempt this on your own. You may be left with a visible scar if it's not done correctly by someone trained. Topical antibiotics (prescribed by the doctor) can also help to treat the cyst.
DO NOT POP It!! If you decide to pop it could scar!! It could be infected!! Instead put warm compresses on it!! It will form a blister like if that does not happen after 30-45 minutes then apply ice which will reduce the swelling!!If it is that big it could be what they call a cheese cyst which is a pus filled cyst not a pimple!! Cysts will leave scars is broken !!
I would wanna pop that so bad, that sounds awesome
I had something similar to the right of my nose. It was huge, Im telling you.

Anyway, the way I got rid of mine was a long process. I kept popping it for about a month and a half, and it kept scarring and growing back. I used some ProActive Solution (You know, the one with Jessica Simpson). That helped clear up the rest of my face, but not that one zit. I then tried some Black Head remover, but still no luck. I then started using a product called ';Oxy-Pads';. These pads are medicated, and you rub them on your face twice a day. I used the Maximum Strength pads, and in a week all you could see was a tiny scar. Now, 3 months later, the scar has finally disappeared.

i live in a town with a company that makes zinc, all kinds of it, mostly pharmaceutical. anyways it used to spew dust into the town and years ago they did tests on residents (and we had white sort of stripes on our fingernails( like a trees rings ). they found it to be cadmium and zinc...like the kind they make batteries from.

whatever you have, might have coated your bones..like cadmium %26amp;zinc does and as fingernails grow they reveal this. try not taking supplements,or look for environmental contaminants, it might take a while to grow out a full length fingernail though, hope ya find your answer ;)

Paint your nail white with nail polish, it may take a few coats so let the dry really good in between then use a thin tip black permanent marker let dry, then put a coat of clear nail polish over nails

you can do this with other thin tip marker colors too.

but you have to put that clear coat of nail polish on.
use tape. tape down lines on your finger nails and then paint across ...then wait for it to try and tape again. At least that's what I do for french manicure so I';m sure it would work for stripes.
get a very fine point paint brush and just paint them. It doens't have to be perfect. It may even be cuter if it's a little imperfect.

This morning I was cleaning the bathroom in the dorm and I got some stuff under my fingernails?

I won't go into detail what it was, but you can imagine it, since then I have been washing my hands religiously, and also about 3 times after I noticed it, and I use germ-x religiously anyways. Do you think all the bacteria is gone? Or am I going to get sick from it, even if the person was not sick? This morning I was cleaning the bathroom in the dorm and I got some stuff under my fingernails?
go get a pedi cure, theyl clean u all upThis morning I was cleaning the bathroom in the dorm and I got some stuff under my fingernails?
Why don't you take it a litlle less seriously?:)

Sh%26amp;t is just sh%26amp;t, after all, it doesn't bite! It's not very comfortable, but you can get a lot of more dangerous things happening around you every day!

Clean your nails, wear gloves the next time and forget about it!
    Yuk, use gloves next time.
Why the heck were you cleaning the dorm bathroom without gloves on

    How old are you.??...

Didn`t anyone ever tell you to wear gloves all the time,( for your sanitation as well as your health..)

..If you cleaned yourself that much, I`d say the bacteria must be gone by now...

.In the future, buy those disposable gloves and wear them whenever you have to do a job like that PLEASE, FOR YOUR OWN GOOD%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;THANKS.....
Hopefully all will be ok. If you didn't have any cuts or scratches maybe you degermed yourself enough. Any time you clean use gloves so you don't have to worry. The old saying an ounce of pervention is worth a pound of cure still rings true....and besides who likes to worry?
I don't know for sure what it was but, if you are that concerned I am pretty certain that all that washing has done the trick.

If you are still concerned, pour Isopropyl Alcohol over your hands and nails.

Or mix some bleach in a sink full of water and dip yours hands in it a couple of times. (Of course, wash your hands after this with some scented soap to help get rid of the smell. It will still linger for a little while but, better safe than sorry.)
    yes, it's gone.

Try taking a bar of soap and raking your nails into it, leaving deep marks. Then wash your hands again, using a file or similar to help get the soap out.

God made us washable. It's fine. But I gross out over toilets too.
cut your fingernails and wash your hands thoroughly... lolx m bein a nuthead just wanna ask,is that a poop??? errrr...dunt wanna sound like an idiot .. just askin... try using a brush and brush yer nails might get it off =)
I think you are overreacting. Just as long as you didn't decide to chew your fingernails immediately afterwards you should be fine.
If you didn't have any cracks in your skin you should be fine. I would encourage you to buy some gloves from the store for such reasons. You can't get rid of all bacteria you have some on you all the time that is just part of life. I would try to relax you will probably get sick from stress before anything else. If any signs/symptoms do show up call your doctor.
    I'd use a brush, and keep washing! ';religiously';

You are already out of danger but I'd probably still be grossed out.

I'm a bit of a germophobe, so I'd probably use alcohol and peroxide as well, just to calm my fear... But you really are not in danger at all!!

...unless you had an open wound, or you still see particles under the nail, Yuck!!

Try to wear gloves in the future to prevent this kind of ';accident'; from repeating itself!
as long as u don't have any open sores u may be okay
oooo yuck! im sure you'll be safe if you used anti bacterial soap
get a fingernail brush...then use your germ-x to wash with and scrub under your nails with the brush...you can get one in any of the cosmetics sections of department stores...once you get one, you will find yourself using it all the time, but you should always wear gloves when cleaning the bathroom no matter where you are...
wash your hands thoroughlly with soap and water using a nail brush. buy gloves for the future.
    yesitis

Why do people think fingernails are gross?

I mean I can understand if they're really dirty then that's just disgusting.

But if they're clean and everything why do people think it's gross? Why do people think fingernails are gross?
long ones are awful. One time a nurse with very very long red fingernails and sparkles on them, gave my 18-month-old kid 4 shots in the legs as she screamed and later got autism. And when I think back, all I can see are those absurd fingernails and her having to adjust her fingers to try and push the injection in. Horrible, horrible. Fingernails are fine when they are short, clean and sometimes cute with polish on. But long ones are disgusting, especially on men.Why do people think fingernails are gross?
I guess the certain shape of it disgusts people. If you do not have a fingernail on your finger, the nail is terribly damaged, or it is discolored, etc., then yeah, it would be gross.
Um if a guy has long nails its freaking GROSS.

literally the biggest turn off ever.

When I meet a guy first thing I look at are his hands.

They need to be clean and taken care of.

What can i do to keep the area under my fingernails really clean?

i don't like using a nail brush/scrub thingy because it tickles my fingertips! What can i do to keep the area under my fingernails really clean?
Scrape your fingernails over a bar of soap if you are doing yardwork. The soap will fill in the gaps underneath. When you are done, wash out the soapWhat can i do to keep the area under my fingernails really clean?
cut your finger nails low, or just clean them weekly or as often as necessary (with a nail file or something that goes in your nails)

    GOOD LUCK
Try using that little pick thing that is attatched to most finger nail clippers. Also, you could treat yourself to a manicure at a salon...
Personally, I use my pocketknife to scrape my nails out. But, if your fingertips are very ticklish, that may not work. What about one of those cuticle stick thangs? Maybe that would work?
Use a soft toothbrush to clean under your nails when you wash your hands. Get orange wood sticks and use them to clean under the nails regularly. Buy a white nail pencil and use it to color the underside of your nails.

It is a definite ridge you can see and feel half way on all my fingernails. I have had some major health problems and plan to ask my doctor when I see him...........but I was just wondering. Can someone tell me what has caused ridged half moons about half way on all my fingernails?
Both previous answers are great, not going for a BA here. I found similar info when my nails were getting the same type of ';speed bumps';.

Mine have appeared over the years after times of trauma, whether physical or emotional. I was told, and also read up, that most of the abnormalities we find in our nails are just evidence. Evidence of the past, they need to grow out, to go away. (there's no quick fix for them.) The marks or ridges indicate many things. White lines, blotches...

Have to confess I hadn't read both answers in their entirety, but trust it's all there.

I'd also heard the vertical ones , which are more permanent, indicate different, and more lasting damage/trauma.

I think there's info at a website called Dr. Mercola, as well as WebMD.Can someone tell me what has caused ridged half moons about half way on all my fingernails?

    General Weakness / Splitting

Nutritional deficiencies from poor digestion of proteins and/or minerals may produce general weakness of nails. A lack of stomach acid can produce both of these deficiencies. Note that antacids (also see below) directly interfere with absorption of mineral nutrients.

Vegetarians who eat inadequate amounts of protein may experience general weakness of nails.

    Brittle Nails / Easy Tearing

A deficiency of calcium may contribute to brittle nails.

A deficiency of essential fatty acids may contribute to brittle nails.

A deficiency of iron may contribute to brittle nails with a tendency to tear crosswise.

A deficiency of zinc may contribute to brittle nails.

    Supplemental vitamin A is recommended.
Your nail beds are affected by your health and having surgery will affect them. Since you had major surgery 3 monthes ago, the area of your nail beds would be just about halfway grown out now so that's probably what it was from.

    Dark brown, eggplant, orange-red

    General Nail Color/Skin-Tone Rules

Fair Skin: Wells says to choose berry reds, since they have a bit of pink in them (although those with yellow undertones should avoid these colors).

Medium Skin: Wells recommends choosing deeper burgundies.

Olive or Bronze Skin: Choose anything with a bit of a gold tone 鈥?orange-reds and yellow-based browns. True ';fire engine'; reds are also good, but blue-reds aren't, says Wells.

It's probably the sun, if your wearing clear nail polish or a light color of nail polish sometimes it will get burnt by the sun and turn your nails yellow or orange. I'm not sure if this happens if you nails don't have any polish on them or not, but you should get a UV top coat polish you can get them at a drugstore or walmart or Avon has a really good one that i use a lot. hope this helps. here are some ways to whiten it

    # Dissolve a denture-cleaning tablet in water and use this to soak your nails for several minutes.

    # Squeeze fresh lemon juice into a small bowl ,then soak your nails for a few minutes. Wash your hands and follow with a moisturizer.

    # Make a paste of baking powder and lemon juice and apply a small amount to each nail. Buff lightly, then wash, dry and moisturize your hands and nails.

    # Make a paste of three tablespoons of baking soda and one tablespoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide. Use a cotton swap to apply the paste to the tops of your nails and underneath the tips. Leave on for five minutes, then rinse off.

Everytime you have the urge to bite your nails, or if you do bite your nails, pinch yourself in your forearm really hard, or tell someone to pinch you really hard. It will hurt but you will associate the thought of biting your nails with pain and your brain will send signals everytime this happens. Dont worry, I had that habit too and I kicked it. Hope it helps.
Are you having a lot of stress? because nervious people are more likely to bit their fingernails. Look that's not good for your health and what you need to do buddy is put some tape, and that would go away. I did that to one of my friends and lol the first 2 days she was eating the tape, but it wasn't the same so she stop. Now she has her long beautiful nails, and she love it...

Try it my friend, it would work on you...trust me ;-)
May sound strange but put a coat of clear nail polish on your nails so when you bite them, it will taste very nasty and maybe help reduce how much you bite them or hopefully stop it completely. I heard some people wrap bandaids on the fingertips around the nail so they can't bite at them lol. Good Luck! Sorry if I didn't help.
There is this lotion you may buy from your drug store that you can put on your nails, once you bite the nails, you'll get a bad taste and never want to bite them again. The lotion is used to give bad taste once the person bites the nails.
Most advice is to put something nasty tasting on your fingers like a hot sauce. My remedy, for smoking, too, is to chew on a cinnamon stick. It gives you that oral pleasure, cinnamon is good for you and it's available in jars at the grocery store. Good luck.
bite something else .... try bitting your lips thats sexy ...

i bite my nails too. haven't been able to successfully quit but good luck to you
Think about all the **** under your nails, would you eat it?, it works for me, I have never bitten my nails!. Good Luck.
i would just put loads of nail polish remover on them then they would taste disgusting and stop you doing it!
Anxiety, tension, boredom starts it off? Notice what you are doing and how you are feeling and thinking when you bring your hands up to your mouth.

Then when those feelings come up, sit on your fingers or twiddle your fingers, or do something else with your hands..

Move the problem. Change the habit. My first psychology teacher told us about psychological tics which would cause a part of the face to twitch. Undesirable in that case because it's very visible and embarrassing. He suggested going to a therapist and having the tic moved to the big toe where no one can see it.
put tape around ur nails or wear gloves so you cant bite them lol idk i have the same problem
Theres this stuff called STOP! and you get it at drugstores and you paint it on your nails and when it dries it tastes really bad. Or you could just go get a professional manicure and then your nails will look too pretty to bite.

    Brown streak under my fingernail?

There Is A Brown streak under my fingernail. What is it?

And how can i get rid of it?Brown streak under my fingernail?
Sometimes streaked fingernails are a sign of heavy metal poisoning. Don't panic, i'm probably wrong. But go to your Doctor, if there is any chance you could have ingested something bad. Brown streak under my fingernail?
could be a splinter especially if it is perpendicular to the nail bed. try some tweezers to get it out. if it is deep into the nail it may be an old bruise where the blood, now surfaced, has turned brown. You'll have to wait for it to grow out. cover with fingernail polish if it is a problem.
Sounds like a fungal infection, nothing serious - your doctor will give you a ointment that that you paint on your nail and it should be gone in a couple of weeks
It might grow out as the nail grows.

  • Will rubbing alcohol take permanant marker off of fingernails?

I can't find black nailpolish so I was going to use a black permanant marker but, how permanant is it? Will rubbing alcohol take it off? Thanks! (By the way, I'm not going to color all my fingernails black-goth like--I was only going to paint stripes down the middle for a day or two which is why I need to know what will take the marker off)Will rubbing alcohol take permanant marker off of fingernails?
I don't think so.. it just has to wear off on it's own

Go to Hot Topic for black nailpolish. Will rubbing alcohol take permanant marker off of fingernails?
No but finger nail polish remover will. Rubbing alcohol will not work because it's not the same thing as nail polish remover.
    try nailpolish remover
put a speck of black on and see if would come off, i think it will
It might come off with alcohol, but it really depends. Hehe..your nails will prolly smell, but do whatcha want.

    Good luck ~ Elle
You know what might work well? Is painting clear nail polish on then drawing the stripe...and using rubbing alcohol should work ....test it on a small part of your nail...
    No!!!, but Acetone will.
It should work provided you do not get it into the cuticles which should be difficult. Try it on a couple of your toe nails - put the marker on, let it dry and then remove it. White spirit, or a small drop of petrol will also remove it...............
i'm not sure try putting a dot of permanent marker on your nail and see if it comes off, it should come off but i'm not sure if it doesn't then it should just wear off after a while. Try going to a beauty store if you already haven't.
It will take it off but be careful because it may be kinda harmful to your nails.
i have put permanent on my finger nail before, if you do, after a couple of time of washing you hands it will turn purple. but if you use nail polish remover it should work. if you put the marker over you nail polish, it should come off when you want to take your nail polish off.
ya as will polish remover a strong one
Sounds cool...Add some more colors with it...Nail polish remover should do the trick!!
Rubbing alcohol might work, but I'll bet nail polish remover would work even better -- that stuff can get permanent marker off of a dry-erase board with a little time and a little elbow grease.
    nope wont work....

Girls: Do you prefer matching nail polish on fingernails and toenails?

I prefer contrast, and most top fashion designers do, too! If you go on elle.com and click on nails there are ideas from different fashion designers and each one has a bold color for the toes and a more subtle one for fingers!Girls: Do you prefer matching nail polish on fingernails and toenails?
My fingers and toes never match.

I don't think it really matters.
i agree with you. right now my toes are dark pink and my fingers are silverish green(yes it's a weird color but it's really pretty) i always do that last time they were red toes and light pink fingers. contrast definatley.
    Yeah I prefer your way,,,

    Bright pink toenails for me

and a subtile colour on my fingernails
i really like contrast. i just find it so matchy-matchy if both my nails and toenails are the same color. better yet, i have polish on my feet but none on my hands (just keep it clean and manicured) since i tend to pick on nail polish on my hands.
i do contrast more but matching is nice. recently my fingernails were black and my toes were pinkish redish.. i also had my toes and fingers black so i like both.
I agree with you. I like a lighter color of nail polish on my fingers and a bolder color on my feet. I even saw that it looks best to do that in a Marie Claire.
i think matching is cute, but right now my toes are peach and purple, and my hands are blue and white
I prefer matching my nail polish on my fingernails and toenails because i think it gives a much nicer look to the outfit I am wearing for the day.
constrast . my toenails are blue with pink polka dots and my nails are black with white polka dots
i like to match. i work in a business atmosphere and people tend to notice alot.
Nah... do it crazy different on each!
Contrast, i usually do cherry red on my toes and a sparkly pink on my fingers or a dark purple :)

What do you think about guys with long fingernails?

Personally....it grosses me out. I would rather see a manly had with short dirty nails than a man's hand with long nails. What do you think about guys with long fingernails?
Not cool and probably a druggy or a dirt bag of some sort!!What do you think about guys with long fingernails?
I think it's creepy for men to have long nails.
    Ew.

I personally hate guys with long fingernails. I just look at them and thennnnnnnn

    ewwww.
    Creepy.
When ever i see a dude with long nails i always suspect hes a coke addict
    not natural !
I personally am not into it or find it attractive but to each his own.
gross same here it just isnt right for guys to have long nails
I think it's nasty and the bad thing is, a lot of men don't think it's ';manly'; to get manicure's and pedicure's for themselves but it has nothing to do with being ';manly';. It's about taking care of yourself. Long nails on a guy is a total turn-off!!!
    freakishly gross.
    ew.

    both of those are disgusting.

    keep your nails clean
i think that it is really grose i cant stand it i just want to cut theme of so i am tottaly with you on that
    thats sick.
lol kind of ironic i just clipped my finger nails tonight mine are short!
that is one of the worst things ever!!! bigger turn off than bad teeth!
eww its gross looking and dirty looking
It grosses me out too. Guys are meant to be guys (not females.) Long clean fingernails indicate a man that is too feminine for my liking. I like a guy who will mow the lawn, fix the car (well at least be able to change the oil!) and do all that sort of stuff. None of which he can do with long fingernails. YUCK!!!

Spit it toward the trash can. After you bite your fingernail off what do you do with it?

I don't chew my fingernails. That's just gross.
im weird i chew on it sometimes!
I have a special jar I save my fingernails in for the nail fairy.. I put my toenails in there too. I must not have nice ones though because it's a really big jar and it's really full... Are you asking because you ARE the nail fairy? I can give you my address if you're looking.....?

    amen, let's eat...
I DONT CHEW MY NAILS ..YUCK.
ew throw it away but i dont bite my fingernails i cut them with a clipper when i need to haha
I spit it out right away.
I chew on it and then spit it out immediately.
i take the nail out of my hand and throw it in the trash
I use it to pick my nose.
I spit it out right away.
chew it, and spit it out
Dont bite fingernails. my bro did that and now he has an extra bone growing. Not kidding

How do you get nail glue on my fingernails?

ok well i put on fake nails ( i know it's not good for ur nails but mine r strong) anyway.... i took them off because they kept bothering me and now there is nail glue on my nails. i can't get it off, i have tried nail polish remover but that doesn't work.

A nail buffer will definitely work, I had this stain on my toenails and when I buffed it, it came right off. Good Luck! How do you remove the yellowish stain on fingernails due to nail polish?
File it with a smooth emery board. It takes it right off!
you can use teeth whitner for the yellow stains on your nails...it works for me everytime
umm...well u can go get a manicure and the ppl their would take care of it for u, that way u get a whole new polish and get the stain off :)
There isn't much you can do when you wear polish all the time it will stain your nails unless you take it off and go without for a while. If you decide to do this you can buff your nails and it will take off some of the stain. Maybe check a beauty supply and ask them if they have something that will take off.
I have found to let the nails go without polish for sometime. maybe a few weeks
I've heard lemon juice. I usually just use on of those nail buffers. they do really good
I had the same exact problem!! What i did was file the yellowish stain off and to smooth them after i used a buffer. In the future, use a clear coat, or a base coat before painting on the colour. I had to learn that the hard way!!
A very tiny bit of bleach diluted in plain old water. like parts equal to 1/100

It is good for your nails anyway... It kills fungus and other nasties.

It is safe to do so. Dermatologists suggest it for toe fungus. Just rinse well and moisturize afterward.
I heard it would diminish with lemon juice, though I tried it on my toe nails and it didn't. You could use a bit of bleach, that seemed to help mine, but really only time and new growth will get rid of it.
Lemon juice might do the trick - try the realemon website it might have tips.
not so sure how to remove it but if you wear a base coat it will not only stop you getting stained nails it will also strengthen and nourish your nails
Stop painting your nails for a while. In the future you should wear a base coat. Red color nail polish is a big culprit.
From experience, there is nothing you can reallly do about it. I would suggest leaving them alone for awhile or just putting a clear/ clear pink shine on them. Take your vitamins and drink lots of water. Also, to help prevent the yellowness, always put a base coat down before the color.
Very LIGHTLY buff your nails with a super fine buffer.

When you wear polish in the future, make sure you use a non-yellowing clear base coat between your nail and the color--reds/oranges/dark colors stain the worst.

When you buff your natural nails always remember that every time you do, you are making your nail thinner so always do it so VERY lightly.
    Lemon juice

    peroxide

    buffing

they sell nail whitener in stores I think it's made by sally hansen
Let them be polish free for about a week, then use only clear for awhile. Or buff the yellow off with a very low grain finger nail file or buffer sponge.
To remove the stain right away use a buffer or smooth emory board... but Always put on a clear base coat before wearing all dark colors and also cheap polishes that you got on a whim because the color was cute... :)
Use clear basecoats in the future.

Leave your nails without some nail polish for about 2 weeks.
that never happens to me but

you can keep your nails loking nice without polish, just use a buffer, it will give you the shine without the hassle/metrosexualness of actual polish... if it is that is what is important to you.Should a guy wear fingernail polish?
I think they can use colorless nail polish if they want.
If a guy wants to wear finger nail polish..let him. Why not? But I don't think they should be wearinf bright colors like pink or blue. I know a lot of guys who wear black. And that's fine, but when they start wearing pink and blue and just bright colors..that's when it gets weird. So if they wanna wear nail polish..more power to them.
Yeah, sure. Black nail polish is hot.
    no, unless he is gay
that would be totally up to the guy :)
Sure, as long as he doesn't come to my house.
    if its black its ok
Many guys have their nails done and polished in clear polish to keep the neat look.
I think thats too gaudy for guys.. Guys shud be neat and clean.. ready to go kind of look.. and not panzy looks.. So i am not in favor of Nail polish

Why do I have ridges in my fingernails?

I know that it has something to do with a vitamin deficiencey. But WHICH vitamin should I be adding to my diet?

Thanks. Why do I have ridges in my fingernails?
yes it's a vitamin deficiency. Vitamin c is always good and iron helps keep your nails in tact. I hope this helps. Look up ridged nails on the computer and it will tell you exactly what to do.

On my fingernails, there are these areas that are white. Can someone tell me what it is?

My whole fingernail is not white, its just a little area that is white. On my fingernails, there are these areas that are white. Can someone tell me what it is?
When you bump your fingernails against something, like cupboard door, when shutting, or maybe a shelf when reaching it creates these spots on nails, they are damage to the nail bed, like bruises on the skin.On my fingernails, there are these areas that are white. Can someone tell me what it is?
Medically speaking, those little white marks that sometimes appear as dots or lines on the fingernail are known as leukonychia. There are several possible causes for the discoloration, but the most common are mild trauma, a fungal infection, skin conditions, or nutritional deficiencies.
These are leukonychia punctata, which basically means small white spots. These frequently will show up in nail plates after mild trauma to the nail matrix (where the nail is made) and actually represent small air pockets in the nail plate. They are insignificant, as far as your health is concerned.

Why do you think people bite their fingernails?

I think its a nervous habit. Why do you think people bite their fingernails?
    it must be.

because people with chewed down fingernails obviously can't help it.

it looks terrible. Why do you think people bite their fingernails?
Usually old people says when a person bites nails he or she is nervous and have some problems which bothers them.

I don't know if it is scientifically correct or not.
Yeah, I do it when I nervous or when I'm concentrating on something like a test. It's a really bad habit.
nerves, no clippers around, or the nail bothers you so you do it on the spot.
yes i to think its a nervous habit, plus those are alot easier to reach then there toes.:)))))))))))))))))
Na, i do it to shorten them, and i don't like using clippers.
    I think so too.
    I do too.

Nope, not at all. I like to wear a pattern of silver and black. That always looks cool to me :)

  • Is there any truth that drinking Knox gelatin will help you grow stronger fingernails?

If not could any one give some ideas that work? I seems lately that my fingernails are very brittle. Is there any truth that drinking Knox gelatin will help you grow stronger fingernails?
well, MAYBE... if your only problem is a lack of keratin. But the nails often give a hint about what is happening in other parts of the body. (for example: lengthwise grooves or ridges may indicate a kidney disorder or an iron deficiency.) Brittle nails can be caused by one or more of the following: lack of vitamin A %26amp; calcium; lack of hydrochloric acid; insifficient MSM (organic sulfer); circulation problems; thyroid problems; kidney problems.

AND, there may be a cause to the cause; i.e., an excess of some medications can cause poorly functioning thyroid.. The human body is amazing in its complexity. It'd be worth you while, I think, to have a good dermatologist check it out.Is there any truth that drinking Knox gelatin will help you grow stronger fingernails?
    It may help, but of much more use is vitaman e oil or cuticle cream;
prenatal vitamins help your nails and hair grow healthier. and yes you can take them without being pregnant
Nope, that gelatin thing has been debunked. Does not work. Brittle nails are from living in dry climate...and worse in winter. I moved from very dry climate to Mexico where there is a lot more humidity and my nails stopped breaking. I believe there are some lotions that help...check Avon products.
Jello a couple of times a month will give you what you want. I don't know why it works. I've eaten jello for years to improve my finger nails. When I stop eating jello the nails get rough and brittle.
nope... but you will bounce a lot
No, there's no truth to it. All you can do is be sure you eat a balanced diet including proper percentages of the four food groups and keep your nails trimmed and clean.
Yes. Gelatin is made from horse %26amp; pig hoofs; basically...fingernails of animals. It's the same basic stuff human nails are made of, so...yup! It does help.

Vitamin A also helps strengthen them.
Gelatin of any brand will strengthen your fingernail tissue.
I know of people who swear by it, but they would mix the dry gelatin in warm water and soak their hands in it, not drink it. I've never tried it, I gave up on my natural nails years ago!! If you want to try it, I don't see what it could hurt. But you don't have to drink Knox gelatin, you can buy gelatin capsules at almost any health food store, or you may check your local pharmacy. If they don't have it they might be able to order it for you Let me know if it works, I may have to try it myself.
    Doesn't sound right to me.
brittle nails are usually caused by inadequate hydration, suggest you drink a lot more water than you are or have been.
Gelatin is ground up keratin. Keratin is what your nails, and hair are made of. It's also what horse and cow hooves, pig hooves, antlers, horns, rhino horns, and countless other things are made of.

    Does gelatin improve fingernail growth?

DOES IT!Does gelatin improve fingernail growth?

In order to achieve naked nails the easy way, you're going to need a few tools:

    Nail clippers or scissors

    Nail file

Pure acetone (you can find this at any beauty supply store)

    Large cotton balls

Aluminum foil, cut into long strips

    Orangewood cuticle sticks

    Nail buffer

Olive oil or heavy hand cream

Patience--remember how long it took to put them on? Well, it usually takes at least that long to get them off.

Once you have everything assembled, I suggest you pop in a Will and Grace DVD and get comfortable, as removing your acrylic nails may take awhile. Here's what you do:

Grab those nail clippers and cut your nail tips down as far as you can--the shorter you can get them, the less acrylic nail you'll ultimately have to pry off.

Using your nail file, file off any gel or topcoat on your acrylic nails so that they are more susceptible to the acidic qualities of the acetone.

Soak ten of your cotton balls in acetone until they are completely saturated.

Lay one soaked cotton ball over each of your acrylic fingernails.

Use the foil strips to wrap each cotton-topped fingernail as tightly as possible.

Enjoy Will, Grace, Jack and Karen's antics for at least 20 minutes while you sit still and let the acetone work its magic. NO CHEATING!!! If you remove the foil prematurely, the acrylic will immediately start to harden again, so just hold your horses.

After watching at least a full episode, peel back the foils from your acrylic nails one at a time.

Using a clean orangewood stick, scrape the acrylic right off! It should come off easily, but if you find some stubborn residue, gently buff it off with your nail buffer.

Finally, massage olive oil or heavy hand cream into your nails and nail beds, as acetone is extremely drying. Continue to apply oil or lotion at least three times every day for the first few weeks your acrylic nails are off--don't forget to do it right before bed! You can certainly keep up this ritual for life if you're craving super-silky, healthy nails!

    Required Tools:

    Nail clippers

    Pure acetone

    Aluminum foil

    Nail file

    Nail buffer

    Cuticle sticks

    Olive oil

    Cotton balls

    Caution:

Never, EVER rip, tear, or chip at your natural nails!

Be careful never to over-file your natural nails or nail beds.
Purchase a bottle of 100% Pure Acetone (cosmetic grade, not the stuff from Home Depot), as well as an orangewood stick, cuticle oil (such as Solar Nail Oil) and a flat four sided buffer file. Poor the acetone into a glass bowl and soak. Occasionally use the orangewood stick to scrape off the softened acrylic. Remember though, every time you remove the nails from the acetone they will quickly reharden as they dry. When you have removed the acrylic from the nails buff with the buffer, starting with the coarsest section of the file, working down finer until you end up finishing with the rubbery looking panel. Finish off by massaging the oil into your nails and cuticles. Use this oil nightly to help keep cuticles healthy as the old damaged nail grows out. Hope this helps!

p.s.... Be careful and do not pry the acrylic off the nail with nippers or metal instuments. This can peel off layers in your own nail bed which will causes permanent damage (ridges) to your own nails. Even when done properly, the nail will be damaged when acryilcs come off, but when done properly the damaged nail does grow off to be repaced by a health nail. The full growing off process can take anywhere between four to six months depending upon the length of your nail bed and nails rate of growth.

p.s.s... Always use acetone in a WELL ventilated area and be careful of open flame as it is EXTREMELY flammable.
    soak them in acetone
Soak them in fingernail polish remover... Take your time.. They should gently peel away from your real nail.

Buy some Nail strengthener to put on a few days after. (Opi brand sells some.. it is worth the money) Your real nails might be sensitive depending on how long you had them on for!
go to the hair stor and ask them for ';asittone';. it's like $ 5 for a bottle. don't use nail polish remover it doesn't have enough asittone in it to get them off. What I'm telling to get is the same thing the nail shop uses.....good luck
go back to the place you got them put on, they will soak them off! otherwise it hurts, and you'll ruin your nails..they usually only charge like $10
