Cut fingernail with a knife?

My husband has recently cut through his fingernail with a knife. It didn't cut any part of it off, but i was looking for some advice as to anything to help it hurt less or stop bleeding?Cut fingernail with a knife?
Stop the bleeding: apply steady, firm pressure for 10 minutes. Use a piece of gauze or something similar. If it bleeds through the gauze, put another piece over it and continue applying pressure.


Make it hurt less: once it's stopped bleeding, apply neosporin. That has a built in analgesic and will numb his finger. It will also help prevent infection since it's antibacterial.
