I'm a white American male and I keep one pinky nail sort of long to make it easier to pick up small things. Big fat fingers have a real hard time grabbing a small flat object off of a table or a desk. I don't use it for drugs or dingleberries, but sometimes it comes in handy for the obligatory nasal strip-mining.

I know from witnessing myself that they wipe there bum with there left hand. The nail could be a digging out tool. This is why we shake hands with our right hand.
ive always wondered this too...my ex (not from far east) carribien had the same on both hands..he said just bcoz he liked it...weirdo...also i know people who snort cocaine use it as a holder if i can say that...anyway this sight has the answer....
